A Piece From The Editor

Twisting, tangling, growing over.

Strangling, choking, taking over.

Breathing, changing, starting over.

A Letter From The Editor

I am all for exploring themes of tumultuous nature, and She herself is a sort of umbrella over the entire Typewriter magazine.

For example, please see our logo: a typewriter overrun with flowers and flora of all kinds.

I find the notion of humans’ penitent little world being overcome by Mother Nature, the truly supreme force, so utterly poetic.

We stomp out the ants that crawl in through the back door, or spray poison into the bee’s nest under the balcony. After all, this is our home, our world.

But is it really?

Was it ever?

And, besides our self-delusion, haven’t we done far worse to ‘our world’?

Charred, broken trees; drowning polar bears; birds with stomachs of plastic.

These are some ideas I want our future submittees’ to keep in mind, but, as always, we look forward to hearing your interpretations!

I won’t give away the exact name for now, but tune into the swell of my words and you may figure it out.

Pitch your guesses in the comments if you feel so inclined 😉!

Yours,

Ursula, Editor-in-Chief
